QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & PATIENT CARE
Cultural Competency: A Key to Improving Patient Satisfaction
As our communities grow, the ability to provide culturally competent care has become essential for healthcare professionals. Cultural competency not only enhances communication and trust between providers and patients—it also leads to better health outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.
Current Marketplace accreditation standards require that we offer our providers cultural competency training. There are many different types of training available for providers. We have developed this training as an option for our providers; it is not mandatory.
Why Cultural Competency Matters
Healthcare offices that demonstrate cultural awareness are consistently rated more favorably in patient reviews and experience lower levels of staff dissatisfaction. Effective communication—rooted in cultural understanding—is critical to ensuring patients feel heard, respected, and understood.
